Utah, Here We Come!

We are safely in Blanding with my family and are having fun meeting cousins and spending time with Grandpa and Grandma, but we already miss Daddy. I was nervous to make the trip to Utah alone with the kids, but actually it was not bad. Dad stayed with us in the airport until the last possible minute and that was great.

The hardest part of the day was getting from the security checkpoint to the plane and then from the plane to baggage claim. At security Richie got really sad when I took his shoes off. He cried from when I took them off to when I put them back on, I think he may have thought he was not going to get them back. I didn't have a stroller, so I was carrying Sophia and a couple heavy carry-ons and a portable DVD player and holding Richie's hand. It was a bit of a challenge, but we made it safely onto the plane and it was not a full flight so we had a row all to ourselves. The kids were fantastic on the plane. Richie didn't even seem to notice that we were flying, the turbulence (really heavy coming into Salt Lake) didn't even bother him, but it sure bothered me. I used to love flying, but now the slightest bit of turbulence scares me to death.

We arrived in Salt Lake close to on schedule, but the jetway was broken so we sat on the plane for 20-30 minutes. Richie kept saying "I'n ready to go, Mom." We all were. A nice couple in front of us offered to help carry a bag off the plane for me and that was a lifesaver. I don't think I could have made it on my own. We found Grandpa at baggage claim, called Dad to let him know we made it, picked up luggage and headed to Spanish Fork where we stayed in my brother's house for the night. Thanks, Tim, sorry you weren't there, but we appreciate the use of your bed.

Wednesday morning we drove down to Blanding and that was actually a little harder than the plane ride because I couldn't hold Sophia when she got fussy. She was pretty good until about 40 minutes away from Blanding and then she had had it and cried the rest of the way.

The kids were pretty tired and cranky yesterday, but today they are doing better. It is really cold and windy here, so we haven't been able to go outside and play, but I am sure the weather will get better soon.
