I thought it would be fun to make red velvet cake as a Valentine's treat and I found a recipe online to try. When I went shopping for ingredients on Saturday I discovered that red food coloring is hard to come by so close to Valentine's Day and red velvet cake requires a lot of red food coloring. I bought a couple boxes with the four colors and squeezed out all the red and mixed up a little from the gel coloring I use for decorating cakes. It turned out fine in the end and the cupcakes were AWESOME! I am really happy how well my first attempt at red velvet cake went. However, twenty four cupcakes is a lot for one family, and I think they were a little too rich for the kids who didn't end up liking them much. But all the adults we shared them with really liked them. Sophia asked me if next time I can make blue cupcakes, so instead of red velvet, how about blue suede? What flavor would those be?

The other night I gave Sophia a mani/pedi. She LOVES IT when I do this. She loves it so much that she usually asks me to polish them in a new color as soon as they are dry. Richie gets a little jealous of the attention. As Sophia's feet were soaking he asked if the foot bath was only for girls. I need to figure out something to do with him that doesn't end with polish on his nails.
